with a view to improving the material, physical and moral well-being of elderly people residing in the canton of Geneva, in particular providing and developing services adapted to the needs and circumstances, encouraging mutual aid, granting one-off financial aid, and stimulating the physical and intellectual faculties of the elderly, strengthening the independence and self-confidence of the elderly and encouraging preventive measures, improving the social status of the elderly, and defending the interests of the elderly before the authorities and the public.
