We see ourselves as a foundation based on responsibility, create space for different thinking and shape diversity in economy, ecology, society and culture.

With our work, we enable effective social commitment by providing opportunities where concrete solutions to challenges arise. To this end, we support people in realizing civil society projects, enable them to expand their skills and give them access to the resources they need.

Whether in our immediate neighborhood around Villa 102 in Frankfurt, in Germany or internationally in intercultural dialogue: we provide support where projects have a direct impact. A thematic connection to the mission of our founder, the KfW banking group, is important to us.

Specifically, with our work we would like

• preserve a livable planet for future generations. Here we focus in particular on the great challenge of preserving biological diversity on earth,

• Create livelihoods for people facing particular social challenges,

• Enable opportunities for those who make a relevant contribution to society.

We do this within the framework of projects that we develop together with cooperation partners and support operationally. Our projects show new ways for sustainable solutions that also have a successful effect beyond the individual project and the duration of the funding period. This creates replicable blueprints that encourage others to implement their own solutions. Our goal is to create tangible social added value.

FUNDING GUIDELINES

We are mainly operational. Our support services not only include the provision of financial resources, but also the active support of the projects by the employees of the foundation. In particular, we support self-developed, medium- to long-term projects. We do this together with our cooperation partners.

Funding by third parties is possible within the framework of specified program approaches. The main criterion for project selection is the transferability of the project approaches, so that innovative ideas can be disseminated as widely as possible.

The sole provision of financial resources to support the implementation of third-party projects is not possible.

Only requests from non-profit organizations whose principles are in line with the basic ideas and core values of KfW Stiftung will be considered.

Taking into account the purpose of the foundation, the structural orientation and working methods of the KfW Foundation, donations and sponsoring are excluded. In particular, the following requests will not be considered. We ask that you do not submit any requests in this regard, otherwise we will have to refrain from responding.

• Individual inquiries, such as grants, individual help for conversions, equipment, therapy costs or inquiries from individuals that include the financing of charitable purposes.
• Start-up financing and operating grants
• Preservation of monuments, renovation, restoration and general construction work
• Events, congresses, etc.
• Subsidies for materials and printing costs
• Research projects, bachelor, master and diploma theses or dissertations
• Compensation for state benefits (fulfilment of legal and other obligations)
