Mission
The purpose of the foundation is to continue the observations and research carried out to date by the astronomical institute at the University of Bern. It promotes research in astronomy, space science and sustainability and communicates findings from these research areas to the general public. She wants to sensitize the public to the sustainable use and preservation of living conditions on our planet and motivate young people to take STEM courses. She runs the Dr. H. c. Willy Schaerer built a private observatory on the Uecht near Niedermuhlern / Bern. It builds and operates a new observatory designed by architect Mario Botta on the Uecht near Niedermuhlern / Bern as an outreach center for research in astronomy, space science and sustainability. Through public tours, the private observatory of Dr. H. c. Willy Schaerer and the Botta Observatory and possibly other installations in the area on the Uecht near Niedermuhlern / Bern serve an interested audience. The telescopes in the Schaerer Observatory and in the Botta Observatory should be able to be used by professors and students at the University of Bern for astronomical observations and research, and should also be available to amateur astronomers with the appropriate qualifications. The foundation promotes the exchange of scientific research by establishing a partner network with companies, institutions and private individuals. The foundation has a non-profit character and covers the costs of implementing the foundation's purpose with income from your services and donations from partners.
