The foundation is non-profit. It promotes scientific education and research in general in the sense of a free, uninfluenced and unconstrained research into the truth and in particular supports the University of Basel and the existing scientific collections in Basel. It primarily promotes projects and work that do not correspond to the current zeitgeist, with special emphasis on theology.
